Lord Of The Flies || William Golding || Book Review

 Lord Of The Flies

Lord Of The Flies is a classic novel written by Nobel prize winner, William Golding in the year 1954. The book is a very beautiful example of the breakdown of society and civilizations. It is probably one of my favourite book. The core meaning of the book or the message that Golding tries to convey throughout the novel is that fear is the catalyst for violence and the destruction of civil societies. It is an excellent and imagery focused book describing a tale of a group of school boys stranded on an island. Fear is a major theme throughout the novel and is the reason behind the boys loss of innocence.

Is thi book the inner demons of each character is expressed perfectly. It truly shows the darkness in human nature and what mankind can do to each other. The boys fear what they do not understand and Jack uses this fear to convince the majority of the boys to join his tribe. The boys fear the unknown"beast" and look towards Jack and his hunters for protection. The book has lots of fantasies and analogies infact lots of biblical references. Golding put all the framework in a way that you have to unpack and re-read to understand tha whole plot. The author very precisely simplifies mankind's tendency of self-destruction by allegorically replacing society with a group of school age boys. Initially they group around each other and develop a functioning democracy. This book is just phenomenal!

In general the book is a pessimistic view of society, so readers should keep that in mind while reading this book. Piggy had a touch of kindness and non-violence. However, Jack is the opposite killing pigs and letting the fire burn out. This was the main reason why the boys ported into two groups. I would definitely recommend this book to every reader, particularly the one who loves classy novel, as it has a meaningful plot. It is a very amazing book full of suspense, emotions and also portrays the darker side of individuals and society.
